![]() I believe in my dream to achieve some form of success for the purpose of spreading a more positive approach to life. What started this dream? My girlfriend was diagnosed 4 years ago with Schizo-affective disorder. As I've grown to understand the illness more it's changed my approach on life. The days of being upset for no reason over small insignificant problems are gone. It's hard to explain, but I wish I could somehow give people insight to how it's changed me. Can I still get upset? Of course I can. However, it's easier for me to take a step back, evaluate the situation and adjust my attitude toward remaining positive. The small things that people are regularly upset over seem like no big deal anymore, material items don't have as much value.. it's more about the moments, the goals, the dreams and the inevitable achievement of those dreams when dedicated and positive. What motivates you to follow this dream? Aside from my girlfriend who I'm completely dedicated to.. my own life motivates me. I see the time I've wasted, the negativity I've spread, and the arguments over nonsense I've had.. I'm over it. I'm not only motivated but dedicated to a positive life. What are your goals? My goals are to continue this path I've chosen as the one my life will follow. I want to grasp as much of an understanding of people as I can, I want to fill my life with positive energy and excel to places I never thought were possible in the past. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? I'd like people to know that regardless of your situation or a loved ones situation you can not only succeed in life but you can find happiness. It's not material based, it's not even achievement based despite where I said my focus is on achieving my goals and dreams.. it's really based on love and understanding as cliche as that sounds. When I found my girlfriend and came to the conclusion that she was the one, that I loved her and I was content with being with her for the rest of my life.. it opened up another door, I thought that was the best life would get. I was able to start pursuing my goals, excel at work and continue on a path of what I thought to be success. Soon after she was diagnosed with mental illness, first it was bipolar, than they said schizophrenia, then a mix of both which is schizoaffective and most closely fit her situation. I immediately went into a depression, I wasn't there like I needed to be, I was in a hole that I didn't know how to escape.. luckily over the next 6 months I emerged from that hole, I found that the small things in life weren't nearly as important as we make them out to be. Once I was able to let go things changed, fast. I don't want to carry on forever.. but there's another way, there's a positivity you can find that can change your life. If anyone wants to talk, or if you feel you're on that same path reach out to me (I'm on twitter @iamduanejackson). At first I was very disappointed with the people in general.. I couldn't figure out why people couldn't find the same thought process as I had because I was sure it would help bring about more peace and prosperity across the board. I very quickly realized that was another form of negativity, I can't expect everyone to change, I can't expect everyone to follow my ideology.. but I can certainly make sure myself and those around me enjoy our lives to be fullest extent we can. ![]() I believe in my dream to provide content creators tools to make their images and videos shoppable and deeply engaging. What started this dream? Imagine you're watching a show like New Girl and Jess (the main character) walks on screen in some killer heels. You need THOSE heels. We built a platform called Spylight.com to make shows, movies, and platforms like Youtube and Instagram shoppable. Fans rewarded us by engaging deeply with all the content we built around their favorite shows. As we began to look at our own growth, it became apparent that our platform was contributing to the noise as just another content destination. Our partners need deeper engagement on their OWN platforms - not just another site to send their fans to. Thus, Spylight evolved from a platform to a plugin. Now, Spylight embeds with any image or video to make it shoppable in the simplest way possible. We deepen fan engagement and offer additional revenue streams to content creators from shows, streaming services, digital magazines, blogs, and more. What motivates you to follow this dream? I’m a fixer and a builder. Working with content creators allowed me to hear the challenges they face in their business to monetize their work. It’s been extremely motivating to see how something we’ve built is helping these creators drive deeper engagement and incremental revenue streams. On a personal level, connecting with such passionate and driven creative people has been an incredible privilege. What are your goals? Spylight believes in the power of native advertising and its evolution. Our technology provides contextual commerce in a seamless, almost invisible way to an audience. Over the past year, we secured partnerships with Fox, MTV, and others to test different iterations of Spylight. We recently launched with Time Inc./HelloGiggles, where our technology drives better KPIs than other banner advertising. We will soon be launching on other media and entertainment platforms and our goal is to continue evolving the definition and function of contextual commerce through 2017. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? Spylight is currently working with several big publishers and MCNs to fully validate and confirm product fit. If you know someone we should connect with, please let me know. Right now, we have a simple splash page with contact info at spylight.com. Reach out to me if you’d like a full demo of the product. What started this dream? The only stories you hear or the success stories. There are so many other stories that go untold or undocumented. I want to change that. What motivates you to follow this dream? Time. Time is so precious and it is one of the things you can not manipulate. What are your goals? I want to document at least one person from each country in the world through videos. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? Follow my journey as I try to document stories and break into venture capital. You can find me at my YouTube Channel (bit.ly/itsabhinaya) or on Twitter(twitter.com/itsabhinaya). What started this dream? This dream started when I realized I wasn't going to be a professional athlete (that took way too long in retrospect) but knowing I still really wanted to do something in the sport industry. Pretending to commentate games on TV or video games my friends were playing was a fun hobby of mine, then it clicked that I could do this for a living. What motivates you to follow this dream? The desire to improve and the excitement of calling a game motivates me. There's no activity I love more than being in the booth and calling the action in front me, and channeling the energy I see on the field. Ring announcing was an incredible experience too, the exhilarating feeling of stepping into the cage and belting out the fighters' names to the crowd cannot be understated. What are your goals? My ultimate, way-down-the-road goal, is to be the play-by-play broadcaster for the UFC. But hey, I've called division three lacrosse and loved it, so I'll take what I can get in the meantime. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? Fun fact, preparing to call a game is the only thing I do not procrastinate. What started this dream? To tell the truth my "spark" for comedy came during a dark time in my life. I had just dropped out of college and I was very depressed. Spending hours in my room wondering what I do next. To cope with everything I made it a point to watch more comedy because that generally makes people happy, or so I heard lol. After six solid months of watching stand-up I came across Boston born comic Patrice O'Neal. His special "Elephant In The Room" is one of the best works of comedy I'd ever seen, highly recommend listening. I I did sone research and discovered Patrice O'Neal hails from the Roxbury area of Boston like myself and thought if he could do it I could give it a try. Ever since then it's been comedy everyday. What motivates you to follow this dream? Comedy is probably the one and only thing I can do with some proficiency. I'd be cheating myself if I didn't attempt to take it as far as it can go. At this point in my comedy career I'm finally gaining confidence in my abilities. Also making complete strangers laugh, whether it be on stage, video, twitter, etc is one of the greatest thrill in the world. It's a strange feeling having something you created resonate with people. It's like you created something out of nothing and it works and people really feel it that's amazing! What are your goals? My main goal is to be able to live solely off comedy. So I can do more comedy. And I want to be original, that's a big one. Push the envelope a bit. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? You can check me out @terencepen on Twitter. I regularly post upcoming shows, projects, irrational thoughts if that tickles your fancy. Also in the comedy short "Scalpers" presented by Tres Gatos Production, please check it out especially if you're a Boston local. You'd appreciate it! I want to make the concept of "health" less complicated and easier to achieve. I believe our health is one of the easiest things to control and leads to both a greater quantity and quality of life. What started this dream? In high school I started helping out my teachers in gym classes for the grades younger than me. I realized that as a teacher I'd be able to do this (play games and be active) for the rest of my life and get paid to do it! Sounded like a pretty sweet life to me. However, after graduating Kinesiology and before pursuing my teachers diploma, I got into personal training. I realized that it was the same end result; getting people active and healthy, it was just with adults now instead of kids. After a couple of years, and a few truly life changing experiences from clients I knew I had found my passion. What motivates you to follow this dream? It's the constant stories about life changes that keep me going. I've seen so many people change their lives, extend their lives, recover from injuries and accidents or simply be able to play with their kids again. The countless stories about how people "got their lives back" or "have never been healthier and happier in their life" is my motivation. What are your goals? I actually LOL'd when I read this. First, because I have so many and where do I even begin and second because it's the #1 question I ask anyone I know and work with. As far as this dream and the vision I have for my future, my goals are business related. I started a CrossFit gym nearly 10 years ago, an online coaching business 6 years ago and developed a new fitness system that I'm franchising in Mexico a year and a half ago. I sold the CrossFit gym but the other two businesses are my current focus. The goal of both businesses is reach. I want to be able to help as many people as possible. An online coaching company removes the boundaries of location. The franchise model is designed as an accessible system that focuses on making people think "I can do that". People need to believe they can do it in order to succeed. So, the more these businesses grow, the more people I help! What would you like people to know and where can we find you? My industry (fitness) is built on old-school principles and profit-based companies. Both of these factors lead to options that actually set people up for failure. During this convenient moment in time (January resolutions) let's consider the "typical gym" model: You sign up for a membership at your local gym that has a pretty cheap monthly payment that most anyone can afford. The tie-in is that it's a 1 to 2 year contract that you're making monthly payments towards. However, at this moment you have the new year motivation and believe "this is the year I'll stick to it". The gym sells you, and thousands of other people, this same membership. For about a month, maybe 2 the gym is packed! But after 3-4 months the regulars say "finally, the resolutioners are gone!". The reality is the gym sells more memberships than the facility could actually handle if every one of them showed up! They do this because their business model relies on the fact that 70% or more of the people won't actually come consistently. Thank goodness they got you to sign a contract! Now, don't even get me started on Personal Training! What started this dream? This dream started when my father died; I was 10. He used to "joke-sing" around the house and pretend to play guitar. When he died I became inspired and decided to start teaching myself how to play. What motivates you to follow this dream? I'm motivated to follow this dream because I don't see any other path for myself. I work every day at this goal because I know it is what I want and it is what will make me happy. Every day I wake up and pursue my dream because I feel as though it's my only option. What motivates you to follow this dream? My goal is to not only become a successful artist/producer, but to also change the music industry. I want to bring more live instrumentation back into music, as well as cross genres and expand the sound of music for the next generation of artists. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? I would like people to know that I am almost finished working on my debut album "Full Circle," which they can expect to have late winter/early spring.
