Dreamers Blog
I believe in my dream that every child should hold in their hands a book they have written. What started this dream? We ran a novel writing project with a school several years ago, and it was astonishing to watch those kids grow so much as writers within the week. What motivates you to follow this dream? I think that the way that schools are set up doesn't bring joy and it doesn't prepare kids for adult life - I think that we can do both, and everytime I see a school I'm inspired to change it. What are your goals? This year: 15 novels in schools. 60 novels in the next 30 months. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? You can find out about our novel writing project at www.whitewaterwriters.com and me at joereddington.com

I believe in my dream to make a difference in the world. I believe in my dream to change lives of many for the better. What started this dream? I don’t know if I can really pinpoint a specific start or genesis to my dream. My mother raised me to stand up for myself if I really didn’t agree with something or how I was being treated. I always took that to heart and that branched out to looking out for others, especially those that didn’t always have a voice. According to my mother, she thinks I might have taken her advice a little too much to heart. I always had something to say when it came to the school board in middle school and high school, or with the administration and Board of Trustees at Ithaca College, to running to have the opportunity to represent over 5,000 hardworking Maine citizens. What motivates you to follow this dream? I continue to follow this dream because there is so much more that can be done to improve our country and the world. I believe that I need to make as much of a contribution as possible to solving some of the social and economical issues. There are so many problems in Maine that need fixing, which is why I decided to run for the Maine State House of Representatives. What are your goals? I don’t know that I really have any goals. I just want to continue to hold those in power accountable and make productive changes and solutions that positively affects the lives of many. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? I would like people to know that they should never settle for something that will hinder or negatively affect your dreams. As my favorite college professor always told my senior seminar, “Follow your bliss.” You can find out more information about my campaign and me by going to: www.elijahbreton.com or https://www.facebook.com/BretonforRepresentative/ I believe in my dream to continue doing what we love the most - creating and performing music for fans to enjoy time and time again. What started this dream? In 2009, Eric and Joey's previous band SEER had ended after having mild success. Although that door had closed, something within them decided that it wasn't over, and it was time to start something new. Thus, FACE THE KING was born. What motivates you to follow this dream? I think collectively there is more than one thing that motivates us. It's the process of creating something that people enjoy, it's the incredible feeling we get while playing on stage, and it's the rewarding feeling we get from our viewers and listeners after a show. Even more importantly, it's the positive effect that our music and message has on people across different parts of the world. What are your goals? Our goal is to continue performing and creating music that people can enjoy, as well as to show appreciation for those who have stood behind us along the way. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? We would like people to know that we in Face The King not only play on stage for ourselves, but to send a message to those who are listening. Music is something that brings people together of all different walks of life, and that can't be ignored. During a time where racism, sexism, homophobia, and things alike are very present in our world, we feel that bringing people together is now more important than ever. My dream in life is to become a full time stand-up comedian, touring around the country and meeting all different kinds of people. It’s also to keep creating new things that people enjoy because having people laugh at things I do is one of the greatest feelings in the world. What started this dream? I started this dream almost six years ago when I was working a full time finance job in New York City. I would sit behind a desk for almost eight hours a day dreaming of not being in that office. One day I got the courage to enroll in a comedy class that would then end up in me doing a five minute set as part of the graduation. I would watch actors and comedians on TV thinking this has to be the greatest job in the world, hanging out and making people laugh. I remember being a 23 year old kid thinking to myself if I don’t at least try to do this now I will be 50 one day regretting the fact that I never tried. I would rather be a 50 year old man who tried and failed then to be a 50 year old man who never had the courage to at least try. I gave it a shot and even though I am not where I want to be yet I know one day it will eventually happen. What motivates you to follow this dream? One of the biggest motivating factors in chasing my dream is that I look at older comedians who have accomplished a lot in their careers and I want to emulate them. I know it takes a lot of hard work and also failure to become better and better. When a comedian is always doing well and does the same routine they have been doing for years I really feel bad because to me it seems like they are content with where they are. I always try to get better, which means there are some sets that I bomb(comedian term for no one laughing) but I look at a bomb as me growing in comedy because I tried something that I wasn’t sure would work or not. I played baseball my whole life all the way through college but it wasn’t until I started doing comedy that made me determined to succeed. Baseball came easy to me and I never really gave it a 100% and with comedy I might not ever make where I ultimately want to be but it won’t be from me not giving a 100%, if I give it everything I have I can’t look at myself as a failure. I also am a comedy nerd I love watching comics on stage and seeing people you look up to become funnier and funnier motivates me to constantly write and get better. The last factor is I never want to go back to sitting at a desk and staring at a computer screen plus when I am 35 years old I want to be able to wake up on a Tuesday at noon just because I can. What are your goals? My comedy goals are to become a national touring comedian where I am able to travel not only in this country but others as well. I think it’s one of the coolest things when I hear about comics traveling overseas and performing because they are basically getting paid to go on vacation. I am currently in the process of writing a script that I am hoping once its finished I can shop around to TV studios who will take a chance on it. My main goal is to just continue improving my comedy act every chance that I can get because paying your bills by doing something you love is everyone’s dream. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? I am currently the Producer of Robert Kelly’s “You Know What Dude” podcast with they can check out on ITunes and Sound cloud, along with that I am a regular on Luis J. Gomez “Realass Podcast” on Gasdigitialnetwork.com. If people would like to reach out to me personally they can find me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @chrisscopo, also on my website Chrisscopo.com where I have my email addresses and YouTube Videos. I believe in my dream to create my own niche in the world of combat sports. What started this dream? I always felt like I didn't fit in anywhere, I wasn't ever "enough" of what I felt I needed to be in whatever it was that I was doing. You know the saying there's always someone faster, stronger, prettier, better etc. it seemed to always apply to me. When I found the world of combat sports it wasn't any different and on top of that, at 29 I was older than most people in the sport and WMMA was barely on the radar, it wasn't really realistic for me to become a fighter. But I for the first time, for some reason despite that, I really felt like I found my community, especially once I started doing jiu jitsu. So I became determined to find a place for myself, even if it wasn't as a fighter. What motivates you to follow this dream? The desire to become successful on my own terms. What are your goals? To have my clothing line, podcast, events and women's self defense program become successful definitely financially but also celebrated as part of the sport and community. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? So much! That my clothing line is debuting soon and we have some fantastic events planned for the community. We're very focused on the catering to the needs of the ladies, not that we won't carry men's apparel and accessories but the majority of our line will be directed towards women and having quality functional training apparel for rolling and training. My women's self defense program is like nothing else out there! Its based on jiu jitsu fundamentals and its for women by women who train everyday and prove that what we're teaching works and offers a great introduction to just how amazing and empowering the sport of jiu jitsu can be! You can find more about everything I'm doing at dawnagonzales.com and the links for Mat Therapy and 10th Planet Women's Self Defense are there along with my contact info for anyone who wants to reach me! I believe in my dream to uplift the hip hop community in Detroit and put it on the map as a Hip Hop mecca in America. The dream is coming to fruition in a few ways but one of them is a platform I'm launching on September 19th called EmceeTV. It's an online hub that showcases groundbreaking artists and entertainment. It's not solely Detroit-based. We cover artists internationally but the interviews that we conduct are mostly Detroit artists and curators. By having a platform known and used by people around the world yet featuring so many Detroit artists it is going to bring a lot of attention to our city. What started this dream? I'm recognized as a powerful organizer and promoter in the Detroit electronic scene. I spent several years working in the electronic event scene. Through that I was contacted by several people in the hip hop community and found myself called to the culture. When I realized how many talented artists there are in the city, I sought out to condense the scene. When I feel called to something, I go all in and just make things happen. What motivates you to follow this dream? I believe in community. I believe in their dreams and talent. Their passion motivates me to help them succeed in their goals. There's not enough shine on the talent in the Detroit hip hop scene and I want to change that. I also manage an artist named Big Ang and do PR for another artist Evan The Twerkgod, so I have to do this for them too. What are your goals? The goal is to support underground yet up and coming artists. This is what I refer to as groundbreaking artists. I recently partnered with a few other event curators and promoters in the area who are known for packing houses. We're working together to curate some bangers in a whole new way and level up the hip hop event scene. Through these events, we plan to grow recognition similar to the thriving scenes in Miami, Chicago and Atlanta. The goal's to bring big named artists in and pair them with local talent so the artists in Detroit can continue to have their prices go up. Keeping them moving in the direction of bigger and better. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? The EmceeTV platform will be your plug to the best of the best. We curate our content, take submissions and seek out artists who are making waves. The website will feature new releases, singles, music videos and curated playlists as well as interviews, talk shows and cyphers brought to you by our powerful videography team. I'd love for your readers to tune into what we're doing and look more deeply into the artists that call to them. My social handle for everything is @MsTaylorDall - I'm on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. Also follow @EmceeNetwork on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to stay tuned for the website because it's going to be lit. I believe in my dream to entertain and inspire others. I find the greatest joy knowing that I helped others escape, come to some sort of realization, and/or restore hope via my artistic endevours, whether it be my singer/songwriter project, my acting, or my writing/directing What started this dream? Wanting to give others the feelings that I felt growing up looking up to those who inspired me to keep moving forward. What motivates you to follow this dream? Having someone come up to me or message me after a show and say that my creative choices, lyrics, or acting touched them in some way. Back when MySpace was a thing, I remember getting fan mail all the time from kids saying that I helped them get through a break up, get through their parents divorce, or I helped inspire them to stay alive when they didn't want to anymore. I still have every letter. People wanting and needing to connect through heartbreak inspire me because I know what that feels like. What are your goals? I would love to be able to financially live off of my art, that's the goal, but as long as there are people who need love and support, I'll be there playing Wonderwall. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? I want people to know that life gets hard, and then it gets better, and then life punches you in the face again, and then gives you an ice pack. Life is a pendulum going back and forth, you're on the rise, then you're sliding back down. Live your life, do you, and keep moving forward. Always keep moving forward. Live each day to the fullest, as if it were your last. I believe enjoying your job is a huge benefit -- it doesn't feel like "work." And I definitely enjoy writing about mixed martial arts for BloodyElbow.com. What started this dream? I've been writing online for nearly seven years -- despite my age of 16. When I was nine-years-old, I had a blog about an online virtual world called Club Penguin. Although my writing wasn't in-depth or "good," it was still great experience as a future-aspiring journalist. After that phase ended, I started watching mixed martial arts thanks to my dad, who watched the sport right from UFC 1. Over the next two years I became a "hardcore" fan, and started a mixed martial arts website, putting my writing skills to good use. And the rest is history. What motivates you to follow this dream? What motivates you to follow this dream? The success I've found in such little time is what motivates me to continue writing about mixed martial arts and aspire to cover the sport for a living one day. I have been really lucky to receive some of the opportunities I have been given, and to already be writing for one of the largest mixed martial arts websites out there after just over two years of mixed martial arts writing experience. I've also received some awesome criticism, compliments and other comments from fellow media members and fans I respect, which I really appreciate. And the money from BloodyElbow.com doesn't hurt, either. What are your goals? I think it's pretty clear I'd like to cover mixed martial arts full-time. Mixed martial arts is an interesting sport to cover, however. It's very difficult to be successful in this one specific sport. But I started earlier than other writers -- that's a big advantage, in my opinion. If I continue what I'm doing, I do believe I accomplish my goal. What would you like people to know and where can we find you? My writing can be found on BloodyElbow.com -- I focus on day-to-day news, interview stories, and sometimes opinion pieces. I also host a podcast, The MMA Circus, which can also be found on BloodyElbow.com, as well as iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play and Pocket Casts. If anyone wants to talk shop with me, I'm @NickUFC on Twitter. Twitter: @NickUFC I believe in my dream to…? I believe that I can change the world, by changing the people in it. I have this idea that if I can impact 1,000,000 people, and help them to embrace creativity in their lives and take ownership of their drive and their ability to create, I'll have shifted the world more than I ever could have on my own. What started this dream? Realising that my mission, the one driving force that has always made me feel satisfied and content, is to help people. That's the only thing that I ever find truly fulfilling in a meaningful way. What motivates you to follow this dream? The idea that when I'm gone, the only thing that will actually matter, is the way I treated, helped and engaged other people. Everything else will fall away, but that impact could last forever, passed on to more and more people. That's my motivation. What are your goals? I've mentioned the big, overarching goal - helping people. I want to help 1,000,000 people become more creative! What would you like people to know and where can we find you? I want people to know that creativity is not something you can ever lose. It's something we are all born with. I want people to find me at www.jonwestenberg.com :) Instagram and Twitter: @jonwestenberg |
